MIDTOWN ALLIANCE

The Midtown Alliance was founded in 1978, with the goal of turning Midtown Atlanta into an extraordinary place to live, work, and play.  Comprised of a network of members, volunteers, staff, and professional consultants, it has helped turn the community into an epicenter of culture and achievement. Today, its efforts continue with two exciting projects designed to transform the Midtown area into a pedestrian-friendly community.

The Midtown Alliance, with the financial support of the Midtown Improvement District, has begun a public improvements program entitled Midtown Cityscapes.  This $75 million multi-year project will encompass more than 25 miles of improvements.  The goals of Midtown Cityscapes include improving sidewalk conditions and traffic flow, adding lights and trees, creating urban parks and green space, and promoting pedestrian usage.

The gateway to the heart of Midtown is 14th Street, and its intersection with Peachtree Street forms the main and main address of 1180 Peachtree.  In September of 2009, Midtown Transportation Solutions, a program of Midtown Alliance, completed the modernization of the 14th Street Bridge.  This comprehensive 2-year project involved rebuilding the 14th Street Bridge to accommodate new northbound and southbound exit ramps - improving the pedestrian environment as well as improving traffic safety.
